The coronavirus pandemic continues to worsen in Brazil. Thousands of people have already lost their lives to the disease. And unfortunately, that number continues to rise. Recently, the city hall of the Taboão da Serra region, located in Greater São Paulo, reported that nine patients ended up passing away and were unable to receive adequate medical care, as they were on the waiting list for a bed in the ICU (Intensive Treatment Unit). .
The city's health system is collapsing. Maximum occupancy has already been reached. A fact that draws attention is that this is the first time, since the beginning of the pandemic, that a city in the São Paulo region has recorded deaths that occurred while still on the waiting list.
There are still seventeen patients who are waiting for a place. On March 3, the region's city hall began submitting requests for patients to be transferred to other cities, but this has not yet been met.
The profile of the victims who died waiting for a bed was released.
This Friday, March 5th, a 76-year-old woman, a 73-year-old woman, a 75-year-old man and a 58-year-old man died.
On Saturday, the 6th, it was announced the death of a 95-year-old woman, another 74-year-old and a 46-year-old man.
On Sunday, a 52-year-old man died and on Monday, a 72-year-old man died.
Two more deaths were confirmed this Tuesday.
The situation is extremely worrying.
